Filled with the who's who of the surf industry it was standing room only on Friday July 30th
for the World Premiere of Gallaz's AKA: Girl Surfer in Huntington Beach California.
In true rock star style the Gallaz Surf Team made a fashionably late entrance to kick off
the landmark film that peers in to the lives of six of the most interesting personalities in
girls surfing today.
Some of the biggest hoots of the night came during Rochelle Ballard's section as she
charged the largest gaping barrels, and during the young Hawaiian Melanie Bartels part.
"She is just plain ripping, airs, cutbacks, barrels she has them wired," said Brian Robbins
Globe Surf Marketing Manager.
After a week of promotions, poster signings, and backbreaking work everybody was ready to
cut loose so the motley crew traded their popcorn and soda for microphones and cocktails
at The Great Gallaz Rock-n'-Roll Karaoke Party.
Hosted by Holly Monkman and the Gallaz Surf Team the party at the Spark Grill was over
delivered on all the hype as people were crawling though windows and sneaking in the
backdoor, I even saw kids coming through the service elevator just to sneak a peek of the
shenanigans.
Cazzie and Ray of Gorgeous of Hollywood were on hand to cut hair, just in case you weren't
a rock star at least you could look the part. The most incredible performer in karaoke
history Karaoke Joe taught everybody that Karaoke isn't a hobby, it's an art form, and DJ
Reset New York City's king of mash-up showed everyone why he is the king.
Like any raging party it had to get shut down early, with people lined-up outside waiting to
get in, and the venue overcapacity, Huntington Beach's finest pulled the plug.
Big props goes out to Whyte House Productions Team, Director Todd Saunders, Producer
Joe G and Director of Photography Sonny Miller for delivering an awesome second edition
in the AKA: Series ground breaking film.
